Recently, The State Ledger reported that 38% of New Jersey households cannot afford to meet basic needs, such as housing and utility payments, groceries, and clothing. This comes on the heels of a report last year that New Jersey’s poverty levels have hit a 52 year high.
As a result, the community needs our assistance now more than ever.
Many of those we help have exhausted all of their resources and there are no government programs that can assist them, making the Mason Civic League their last possible hope. Your continued support is crucial for us to be able to keep providing assistance.
In addition, the recreation programs and teams we sponsor help children and young adults use their time constructively and keep them off the streets and out of trouble. In the current economy, local and county governments are now charging families for recreation programs, making it difficult for parents to afford to enroll their children. We are glad to provide assistance to help children and teenagers stay out of trouble and on the right track for success.
There are times when families are the verge of losing their apartment, having their heat, water, or electricity turned off, or are unable to afford funeral costs to bury a loved one. Fortunately, during a time of such adversity the Mason Civic League has been able to provide assistance. With your continued support we will remain able to assist our community.
Please consider a donation so that we can continue to help those most in need.
The Mason Civic League is a registered 501(c)(3) and your contribution is tax deductible. Next year we will ask the IRS to grant the Mason Civic League permanent non-profit status. Your support is crucial in helping us achieve this milestone!
Once again thank you for your past and future support of the Mason Civic League.
We look forward to updating you again soon on the many things we continue to do in our community.
